In July 2023 I visited the Summer program of the “Screen Composer Academy” in Athens. In three and a half weeks we had masterclasses in composition, orchestration, score preparation, MIDI programming and storytelling. With 16 students from 10 different countries, we got to learn from important figures of the industry and film scoring schooling like Jeff Atmajian (orchestrator for Alan Menken or James Newton Howard), Gary Schyman (composer of the Bioshock videogame series) or Richard Bellis. And on top of that, we got to record twice with live musicians in a studio environment – my first recording sessions of my own music! It really was a blast and I learned a lot, which would proof very beneficial in the year to come at the Film Scoring Academy of Europe.
